Sage 200 2010 is scheduled for release in mid-Spring 2010. When it’s released, Sage will be withdrawing support for Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
Microsoft withdrew mainstream support for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 in early 2008 and is due to withdraw 'Extended Support' in 2013. Under extended support Microsoft will only commit to release security updates and will undertake no design changes or other development. In addition existing users will be charged for support from Microsoft.
Microsoft released SQL Server 2008 in April 2008. Sage’s development policy for Sage 200 is to only support the current and prior release of this database platform with its software applications therefore from the 2010 release Sage will support Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008 only.
Sage recommends customers use Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Standard as this is required for those customers utilising business intelligence, and it is the latest version.
